The Robin Hood Community Gardens – Riches for All!

We aim to  create a welcoming place/open space that provides the community with a chance to enjoy our local landscape, offer healthy recreational activities, learning, relaxation, fun and reflection.

We will create an orchard, a green space for everyone to enjoy, workshops on growing and harvesting, cooking meals together and general skill sharing so that we can all contribute to and enjoy this unique and beautiful riverside community garden.

Named after a famous local pub on Big Hill, the gardens takes its name from the old Robin Hood Tavern. The pub sign was found in the bushes some years ago and was kept by Parks gardener Glyn to be used for something such as this in the future.

Robin Hood is a great symbol of hope in this time of recession. . . The riches in this case will be for everyone to enjoy!

We hope to have the gardens open by this Summer, we always need volunteers, however small your input.

Meeting details will also be posted here on the blog – watch this space. . .

    Hello everyone,

I am interested in getting involved with the project, and would like to find out more by joining the next get together. I assume by subscribing to this blog I will be informed by any forthcoming activities.

Hope to meet some of you soon

Hi there- please also get in touch with us at rhugroup@gmail.com thanks!

The general meeting will be this Wed 29th Sept, 7pm at Wigan Community Hall in the room upstairs.

Directions: from Mount Pleasant turn up Warwick Grove and walk up until you see a turning into the estate on your right by the sign for the Glory Early Years Nursery. Turn right here and you’ll see the Community Hall straight ahead of you.

This meeting is for everyone and will be a good chance to get up-to-date with progress so far and make plans for the months ahead.
      Cheers, Nikky.
