Lord Lambourne and Stella Cherry arrive at the Garden!

February 9, 2011 at 1:23 am (Uncategorized)

A perfect planting day this Sunday saw crowds of over 50 local orchard enthusiasts turn up to help plant and learn how to care for the new trees. We planted 9 trees – apples, plums, pears, cherry and apricot. Great direction from Maxime and Russell of London Orchard Project on how to get it just right and we were away.  The kids had great fun digging and also spray stencilling the fantastic names of the trees onto their poles ( see January post ). Also, the Wish Fruit arts project grew as children and adults decorated their own fruit and wrote a wish for the future. Heavenly cakes too – thanks to everyone who came along, donated and took part. This is the best start to the year we could have hoped for. . Huge thanks to Russel of The Tree Musketteers, and Maxime at The London Orchard Project.

Russell give us a pretty thorough demonstration of how to plant the trees.
